I had a lot of hope for livecontrol 2, it seems to only work sporadically, which is quite disappointing. I suppose I’ll have to breakdown and get push sooner because I realized the promise of livecontrol 2 was push without buying a new controller… Ableton is a major part of my workflow and my preferred Maschine hands on style workflow isn’t quite compatible due to the amount of effects I host inside of Maschine while I’m in a writing process. I’ll figure this out eventually… I think Push will be a major way to integrate my new and old styles. It will still probably take a few months for the real bugs in that to be worked out.

In the meantime I will still be exploring the hardware work flow I have slowly started collecting bits for.

One of the awesome things about extreme sports like kayaking is you learn a bit of calling people on their bullshit, but also respecting them for growing as an individual person, and if someone is full of crap, they are risking death by desiring to be something they aren’t ready for, and it might just happen anyway. Self doubt can be a painful learning experience, so can over confidence. Knowing your limitations but figuring out how much you can stretch them can be really rewarding

Emotions also run high on the river and must be controlled, or you risk dangerous and risky situations, you befriend and grow close to unlikely people. The kinds of whitewater experiences that help one to grow and mature as a boater  requires seeking out others who are willing to take the journey with you and show you the way and also be somewhat responsible for the possibility something seriously f’d up could happen. Sometimes to satisfy your urge, you meet someone at the put-in who you might be meeting for the first time after talking on the internet and exchanging a few phone calls. You might have mutual friends. They may be the only person you’ve found who is passionate enough about the sport to take the specific risk you are deciding to take by riding on this river.

You can learn a lot about people this way. You learn trust and caution, all based on observation. It’s also nice to know someones there to haul you out of the river if you’re about to die.

an empty room

There we have it. That feeling of hopelessness, sadness, and quiet rage. It creates the empty grayed out room which we linger and dwell within. What would liven the room up, first some wires, some graffiti, some speakers. Take you sharpie and draw how you feel on the walls, play some loud music, rewire all your appliances.

Enjoy the spaces between things, but never dwell in the empty room just for the sake of it.

I had spent the past couple of months sort of dulling my senses with gaming and other diversions. Then over the past couple of weeks. POW! I’m back into full on production having not picked up a controller now for a couple of weeks. Things seem to flow easier, I’m not banging my head for ideas.  Having 2 gigs to prepare for kicks one in the creative ass as well.

Oh, here’s a brief WIP relating to neither of the 2 gigs I was talking about:

I’ve been taking the past couple of nights to go through all the new stuff I have with my purchase of Komplete. Amazing possibilities all of it, however must not let the potential exhaust me. Tonight was a tour of the Reaktor user library up on native-instruments.com. Impressive, that.
